In 1991, B & W patented their innovative gooseneck hitch that solved an issue many were having; how to remove the ball out of the bed when not towing. The B & W answer is to cut a 4 inch hole in the bed which accommodates the Turnover hitch ball, while the mounting system is bolted to the frame beneath the bed. This design is completed with a handle attached toa 5/8” locking pin that goes through the ball. When you do not need to use the hitch, the handle allows you to retract the pin and stow the ball upside-down, in the same receiver used while in action. This design was a great improvement to the welded-in ball and fold down plate solution.

Turnover Ball Hitch Instructions
I did not have a good experience with the installation of the unit the holes did not align correctly, and I did have to remove the inside of the fender covers. The holes were at least 1/2" to 3/4" off I could not re-drill the holes because the plate did not have the room I had to use a bottle jack to try and align the holes needless to say it was a real pain. The hitch is great but the install was horrible.
This is exactly what I wanted it gave me a level bed when not in use and is definitely rated for the weight that I haul. It was also easy to install by myself in less than an hour. I would definitely recommend it to anybody that wants or needs a gooseneck.
Hitch works well other than the pin wont stay unlatched to pull the ball out alone. also install was a huge struggle had to lift the bed and directions were not super clear on where and when to use what hardware.
The fit and finish is outstanding, I am 74 years old and I installed this hitch by myself. The installation came out perfect. I would not buy any other brand, after having this one.
The hitch was very easy to install and has done everything expected. If I had any one complaint it would be speak to the long and short wheel base dimensions in the beginning of the directions. It will keep you from having to measure twice. I'm kind of a read as you go person
